Moments in Manhattan
Moments in Manhattan is a collection of street photographs made over three years across the island of Manhattan. After four years of photographing 'NYC Subway Noir', underground in the NYC subway, I emerged to photograph the streets of the city. What began as a project between photography jobs slowly took over, until it was consuming half my waking hours. As I started sharing the work, new opportunities followed: a job as a night photojournalist for the New York Post, and years spent guiding and teaching photographers with Aperture Tours, showing others how to see the city's streets. Spending six to eight hours a day, several days a week walking the streets. I built a deeply intimate relationship with Manhattan, one that changed how I think, see, and move through it.
That relationship is the lens through which this collection was made. Moments in Manhattan is a visual story of people living in an ever-changing city.
