As COVID-19 transformed New York City, boarded-up storefronts became the norm. To inspire hope and support the community, Northwell Health partnered with local artists to transform these empty spaces into vibrant murals celebrating frontline workers and the resilience of New Yorkers.

Commissioned by Monigle Agency, David Castillo documented the initiative from concept to completion, capturing the artists at work and the impact of their murals across the Flatiron District, SoHo, and Kips Bay. The resulting imagery told the story of a city finding strength through creativity, community, and public art.
